Nutcracker Apps – For Apple & Android

Here are two apps–the first for Apple and Android, the second for Apple only–worthy of a child’s imagination.

Nutcracker App #1

The Nutcracker Musical Storybook    from Mouse King Media

Find this App for: iPhone/iPad, Kindle, &  Nook.

The Nutcracker Musical Storybook is a gorgeous digital book with Edward Gorey-ish drawings, pleasingly simple animation on each page, and musical cuts that are fully orchestrated (and so pleasant to listen to!).

You can flip through the book at your own pace or “watch” the story in Movie Mode…which lasts about 20 minutes.

The text is limited to one line on each “page”, making this book a good choice for young ones. Dancers may be disappointed in the lack of “ballet” here (the Sugar Plum fairy is a floating fairy), but the story and music remain familiar.

Nutcracker App #2

SFB’s Nutcracker Interactive Storybook

Find this App for: iPhone/iPad.

**Disclaimer – I haven’t used the SFB Nutracker App myself as I don’t own an iPhone/iPad**

The San Francisco Ballet Nutcracker Interactive Storybook is both a digital storybook and a gateway into the accompanying micro-website within SFBallet.org–a little rabbit hole of behind-the-scenes footage and facts including pictures from the live production and video of rehearsals. Watch the preview below or visit SFBallet.org to sneak a peek!

Happy Nutcracker Season!        ~ Linda
